Fatal Error??

when i start up my DNAS i get this...

<09/13/05@12:49:59> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.9.5 (Dec 27 2004) starting up...
<09/13/05@12:49:59> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini
<09/13/05@12:49:59> [main] initializing (usermax:10 portbase:8000)...
<09/13/05@12:49:59> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban)
<09/13/05@12:49:59> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip)
<09/13/05@12:49:59> [main] opening source socket
<09/13/05@12:50:04> [main] source thread starting
<09/13/05@12:50:04> [main] opening client socket
<09/13/05@12:50:04> [main] error opening client socket! FATAL ERROR! Some other process is using this port!

Then it continues to this...

<09/13/05@12:50:04> [source] listening for connection on port 8001
<09/13/05@12:50:30> [source] connected from 127.0.0.1

also my DSP says it is sending data ..but when i check (from another computer with its own connection) to see if a listener can hear i get 'page cant be displayed error'

following instructions from boards here my url to listen would be...

http://70.154.231.54:8000/listen.pls

is my station on air or what do i need to config yet? if there is another process running how do i find? all i know is running is ..winamp and the DNAS & DSP?

a little more info ..while waiting for some suggestions, i have changed IP#s, tried primary, secondary IP#s, changed the ports to, say 8010, 9000, etc, done a search on google, checked to see what programs may be running in the back ground (nudda related to a port), etc ..samo samo error as above..

i even purposely, put in diff #s for the sc_serv.ini and the DSP ..the DNAS log would stop after the error ..waiting for the +1 port.

so here's what i have config in the sc_serv and my DSP... now, which is the same as when i posted the post above..

PORTBASE:8000 (i tired diff port #s also)

srcIP: ANY (i tired IP#s also)

destIP:70.154.231.54 (i tried ANY also)

Yport: 80 (i tired 666 it got the same error also)

in my DSP i have tried both ..localhost and my ip number... localhost works best that is it gets the full error as above..

btw... if i chnage the ..destIP to ANY (everything else the same i get the dreaded NAK error instead of the FATAL ERROR as above.. also in the NAK error the IP# is as it should be 70.154.231.54:8000

hope all that makes sense, and perhaps we can come up with solution... i sure would like to get my radio back up on the air as would a lot of others..

Thank You.

SrcIP=Any
DestIP=Any

*ALWAYS*

The DNAS server must be killed and restarted after any change to the config.

Tip: the ONLY thing that you should EVER change in the DNAS config is the password.

thanks DJ, but as mentioned above then i get the NAK error..

That's OK, the "Cannot see your station..." error cannot be fixed in either the DSP or DNAS config, it is fixed at your firewall and/or router.

*** Your SHOUTcast is correctly configured now, so leave it alone ***

Firewalls first, make sure that the XP firewall or any other firewall you are using will allow port 8000 and 8001 [TCP] inbound.

Port Forwarding --- You have to tell your router to forward port 8000 and 8001 to the LAN IP of your DNAS PC (192.168.{something} is typical).

Find your router here and learn -- http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm

ok ..just fyi ..i use zone alarm ..and it says it ..allows multimedia and broadcast (not saying its right but thats what the config says both in the trusted and internet zones..

i'll go ck the post forward thing now... thanks again DJ

I'll mention that everything you hear and read about consumer stuff like ZA and routers are talking about your applications and OUTBOUND access (ever see XXXXX wants access to the internet?).

NONE of them will advertise the ability to run servers, which is INBOUND access -- you will find the info you need buried in the appendices and FAQs in the back of the manual under odd topics such as "I can't run/host CounterStrike", or "My Messenger can't transfer files" -- all of these applications require allowing INBOUND access (opening specific ports), this is totally denied out of the box for all ports.

To properly use the PortForward.com site, follow the instructions for running an HTTPd -- a DNAS IS an HTTPd (webserver) that runs on TCP port 8000 [PortBase] instead of 80.

ok ..twisting one for you DJ .. i am on the shoutcast severs ..BUT i cant seem to control the playlist ..the sound started out ok ..but now is a mess ..i am totally lost ...lol...

cafeRg 14th September 2005 03:16

DJ ..you gonna take the twist and run? lol.. ..why is my playlist uncontrollable, i put one playlist up and it play a past playlist (in fact it wont stop repeating it no matter how many times i start the new playlist) ..that is what do i have to config? ..also why is the sound quality so ACK ..i have it set at 32k?

evidently i have some more tweaking to do, but what do i tweak?

cafeRg 14th September 2005 03:18

also i just noticed the listen url doesnt seem to be working either?
