To put it in perspective, on a clear night sky, hold a speck of dust (assuming you actually can hold a speck of dust) at arm's length. That's about the ammount of night sky the image covers. Hubble Ultra Deep Field images the sky from between 400,000,000 and 700,000,000 years after the big bang (ie: very shortly after the first galaxies formed, when the universe was less than a billion years old).
