Woot First car mod
I got some slyvania silverstars today and finally figured out how to get them in. Had to remove a fuse box on the passenger side and the battery on the drivers side. Now I got whiteish headlights! Only thing is that they aim high....In the Haynes it has this little chart, but I just need some rough numbers to make a grid on my garage door to align them. Pics tomorrow!

Excellent. My first car mod was changing the radiator after it cracked up. Second, was installing new speakers all around, third was my head unit, fourth was changing the lighting in the car from green to red (dash, speedometer, etc.).. fourth, wiring for an amp which I never bought, fifth, installing foglights.
Fun times. Do not become a modification addict. Or a ricer. I'm going to miss my car. Bleh. |
Heh no the lights were a cosmetic thing but also a driveability issue cause stock corolla lights blow. It not really worth it to put that much money into my car and I don't want to fuck anything up.

lol, if memory serves me right, my first car mod was upgrading my turbo =P

Why would you need to disconnect a fuse box and battery? Hell, all I did with my car to change them out was take the headlights out of housing, unplug old headlights, plug in new headlights, and put the headlights back into housing...Simple enough...
I wanted to get Sylvania Silverstars for my car, but they were so damn expensive...And I had Sylvania Cool Blues, but they weren't quite bright enough...So I searched middle ground in pricing and ended up with APC Ultra White bulbs; Only costed $30, burns at 4000K, and are really white with a nifty light blue tint to them... :D Oddly enough, for my first mod on my Mustang were a set of $20 Navigator fog lights (Which had a slight blue tint to the lense, but lit white for an HID look)...I got the foglights, because the original headlight housings on my car were dull...The plastic had gotten weathered over the years and had an ugly stained yellow tint to them...I got new headlight housings about 4-5 months later with my Christmas money (And damn, did new housings make all the difference :D ), but I still kept the fogs because they look cool... :D Most of my first mods were just practical restoration and aesthetics... |
@midnight- I didn't know what i was doing and couldn't see too well or get my hand in. It was not too hard but I'll try to take some night pics if it stops raining...:(

The template for your Light alignments is in the manual or used to be in all the Heynes manuals - good books btw! Make sure your on a level surface approx 6-8 ft (2-3mtrs) away from the wall to do your set-up. Simple enough job really... |
I think the first mod (and best bang for the buck) was a new ECU for my Eagle Talon. That was snap in about 30 hp for $80.

Smeggle.....other way around :)

Looking bright :D Mine don't put out much light at all.
Oh, and the Protege killed itself today. Something electrical. :D |
Shocking.
