Do not have root access....HELP!!
 

I have access to unlimited space on a webserver...but i do not have root access...does that leave me sol?....or are there other ways around it?...if not can someone point me in the direction of something i can use....i have sam2..if that helps any

You have two choices.
1) If you have the bandwidth available on your home connection, be your own server
2) Look into paying for a remote host www.radiotoolbox.com/hosts

Most webservers do not allow root access.

theres now other things out there like shoutcast that do not requir root access?

you cannot install shoutcast on your webserver without having root and there is no way around it,

acutally you do not need root access to install it, you just *may* need root access to alter any firewall settings already in place so people can connect to it.

he is correct, root access is not needed to setup shoutcast, only shell access. however if the server has a firewall, which it should, then i'm sure only your host can alter that.

also, just because you have unlimited space, doesn't mean you have unlimited bandwdith.

also... how does one get unlimited space? cause i know i could personally used a place to store a few dozen terrabytes of data... :)

Dedicated server+winamp+dsp+...?

I have been using the Shoutcast sc_serv from my computer at our office to stream.
Everything has been working fine except for the last week there must have been a bug of some sort cause noone has been able to get our stream, nor have we been able to find our listing anywhere.
It does not look like we have been up and streaming??
So now I have just subsribed to a dedicated server to cut all the downtime and inconsistancy.
But i am not really sure how to set everything up thus far??.....
I do not know how to get everything going to stream from it.
I thought all I needed was the servers ip address?
Sorry dont know too much about dedicated servers & Shoutcast?

Can anyone give me a rundown on how to get this goping or point me to a tutorial.

it doesn't sound like you know how the server is ever setup. need to talk to server admin then :)
