Ok this is countinued from that thread about a useful idea or somthin like that.. Anyway here is the skin and this is all I got.

But I was thinking of a "big" mode for the skin sort of like in FLO just so that the skin could be usfull to every body.

the buttons are a nice touch. Im not sure about the texture though :)
*Just IMO

LuigiHann 5th November 2005 07:05

Oooh. You should put all 3 versions into the skin :blah: It could be one of those multi-textured-single-coded skins. Those are always cool.

Foxw 5th November 2005 13:19

it was 2 min futzing... hehe the texture just one of my standards i call "ugly form"

^_^

SLoB 5th November 2005 13:31

check the idea thread guys for a workaround ;)

Maybe we could do what lugi said that would be cool, now useing skry's example I think this is what we should do for the ticker. (right click on winamp and open "ticker") but insted of right click I want to make it so that when you clikc the "ticker" button it opens this new window.

hammerhead 5th November 2005 17:50

looks very similar to the xp taskbar

That's great :) Well are we going to use the one i posted? or have like 9 different subskins for the skin?

mike-db 5th November 2005 21:40

Lets see em' all I got a couple more ideas but not much.

Guest232 6th November 2005 11:46

no need, in case ya havnt checked the idea thread, a workaround for the vertical songticker is there, also gonna post that in the maki thread so its available to everyone and not buried in a post

all u need to do is create a bitmap font with the letters rotated to which suits the orientation you want to implement if you dont want vertical text

as for the timer, it works on a same principle see UULs iCube skin

mike-db 7th November 2005 01:33

Thanks, Michgelsen are you talking about xonix me and skry are working on that one sort of 2 skins at a time is cool.

skryingbreath 7th November 2005 01:52

Lol, dude...I have so many projects going on :D You should see my WIP dir, it's crazy as hell! but i dont mind another project :D :D...Just gives me an excuse to not work on other ones :D

mike-db 7th November 2005 16:39

Well have we really decided on what we are going to do and are we gonna start or just sit here saying what we are gonna do?

skryingbreath 7th November 2005 19:01

Youre the boss :)

Which image do you want to use, I'll start coding it :)

Guest232 7th November 2005 19:59

Hehehe ok so you (two?) are still working on all of them, that's clear now. I wasn't sure which project you might have abandoned and which one was still in progress. I'm looking forward to seeing the first one finished! ;)

Ok,
these look sweet.

and as someone said, it kind of looks like the xp taskbar. that's where i kinda got the idea for this.

another idea on top of making a new 'upstand' skin, would be to make a mod for the default modern skin that adds the upstand windowshade mode....just a thought

Hmm :-\ Idk about anyone else bit i dont really like taking someone else's graphics and just switching 'em up. I'd like the skin to be 100% origional and different :D

mike-db 8th November 2005 00:09

:D lets use yours as the 'default' then see if it possible to ether make a "image uploader" for the background of the skin and if possible a "image uploader" for all the buttons Or see if we could make a "multi textured" skin :D

OK. I'm taking this from a skin im making and just flipping it sideways :D It looks decent. Tell me what you think, then i will start scratching the coding monkey in me :)

EDIT; I've started coding it :)

mike-db 8th November 2005 01:31

The vertitext was pissing me off. If anyone could help put it into it it would help alot :)

buggy prealphas rule!

mike-db 8th November 2005 02:54

No problemo :)

SLoB 8th November 2005 12:52

all u need to do is practically copy and paste the applicable code bits from vertitext, its a basic example and no harder to add than what uve already put in

the harder part will be creating a bitmap font with a top to bottom or vice versa read, with that i was planning at some point to create a PS action or script to create a bitmap font which all the user has to do is input the font size, font type and spacings and it would create it as they can be a time consuming job
the best way to ensure you could rotate the letters is to create each letter individually so it has its own set space within the image already then just rotate to orientation needed

skryingbreath 8th November 2005 18:30

Slob, I tried doing that but i got Null lines like crazy >.<;

SLoB 8th November 2005 20:45

to get you started with the songticker
substituted font with yer ttf, recommend creating bitmap fonts for diff orientation

also added 2 more chars in there so the songticker area is filled
http://www.slob.org.uk/wa5/1_upstand_withvertitext.wal

timer works on a similar concept, checkout UULs iCube for a timer workaround, just bosh the x value as x="0" y="??" for timer characters to line them up

its real easy, one day we might hope for rotation/orientation on the text object for songtickers ;)

skryingbreath 8th November 2005 22:18

:o Thank you for doing that :) That definitelly lifts a load :D

billyvnilly 9th November 2005 03:14

it would be cool if this skin behaved like corneramp, only for sides (skin for docking top/bottom and a skin for docking left/right) I dont know how hard that would be to work out though.

its a very nice skin btw, i can see myself using this.

dlinkwit27 9th November 2005 04:08

the latest version looks good layout wise (and it doesnt have the dreadful bevels the first few did), but its too dark. I cant read anything on it.

Well, that's the beauty of colour themes! :D

That would be cool. But i think getting the main layout(s) done is first priority :)

mike-db 9th November 2005 14:27

Ok I think we should make a "options" window for the reason of brightness, I know there are coloure themes but if on someones monitor they are all to dark? There sohuld be a options window so that the user can control to brightness of the skin on any colour theme.

skryingbreath 10th November 2005 22:30

Quick question :)

Is it possible for the 'vis' to go horizontal as well? so that it is like:

||||||

?
