portable secure digital mp3 player

Since I ordered a 1GB SD memory card (this one, but not from Amazon) for my camera, I kind of want it to have more than one use. Since I'm sure some of you folks here are a lot more keen on the portable mp3 scene than I am, can anyone recommend a portable mp3 player that uses secure digital memory cards?

I need it to support up to 1 GB in size (guh). Ogg vorbis audio support is a must. Preferably it does NOT come with a SD card, as that will just make it more expensive, I just need a base unit to take the card I ordered.

Thanks for any help.

Not likely.

My friend bought one of these, it seems ok and it has plugins for all the major music software.

Yep, ya gotta get the use out of those CF cards.

Xiph maintains a list of the Vorbis-supported players

I haven't had any experience with them, though.

why not get a HD player instead? i still haven't filled up my creative zen micro

I was unaware that ogg had a life.... hmmmm.... I mean it's cool, but I thought it was relegated to a nerdly back shelf someplace.

Interesting.

As far as HD players, I really think solid state is the way to go. Moving parts are never cool if you can help it, especially for something you might drop.

Looks like the Lexar LDP-800 is what I shall get, from here aparently. That's the cheapest place I've seen it, though all places are aparently backordered. Other than being backordered, it looks hella good. The built in FM transmitter will take care of me needing to use headphones, too. :)

Get a Sony Ericsson W800i cellphone and buy a 2048 mb Memory Stick Pro Duo. Which you can use for your PSP and PS2 too :P

SSJ4 Gogitta 20th November 2005 17:39

1) I don't own a PSP
2) I don't even own a PS2
3) I don't use cell phones because, well, I don't have a use for them
4) Sony Ericsson W800i = $450
5) 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo = $200

In conclusion: no
