Media Library empty after exit/restart
Hi all,
I use WA version 5.12 Pro and i have a problem with the media library, i feel i didn't have before. When installing WA, it asks for media to be added. I selcted the main MP3 folder i have and let it scan the whole thing. When it was done i had some 3000 files in there. So far all ok. When i select 'local media' in the ML, i see all these songs. However, when i close WA at the end of the day and reopen it the day after, all these files are gone from the library. To my knowledge, this was not the case in older versions. I have looked through the settings for the ML and found the 'rescan at startup' and 'rescan every X minutes'. However, these options are taking way to long. Whenever i startup WA, it has to scan the whole directory again and that takes...let's say....some minutes. Like i said....to my knowledge the previous 5.0 version never had that problem. Whenever i started WA i had this whole list present all the time for me to search in. Just like now the main MP3 directory is added as a 'watch folfer'. Am i doing something wrong here? System specs? HijackThis log? Plugin list? Possible causes: Some concurrently running cleanup-type app (eg. Window Washer) is deleting Winamp's ini files (ie. your problem would occur if it deletes plugins\gen_ml.ini). Some files in the Winamp dir (eg. gen_ml.ini and the files in the plugins\ml database folder) have the read-only attribute, and therefore can't be written to. Some 3rd-party plugin you might be using is causing winamp to crash on exit and therefore settings aren't being saved (settings are only saved when winamp is closed properly). Or it could be something else... but whatever the case, I can assure you that it's not a 5.12-specific issue. |
Hi DJEgg,
Thanks for your fast reply. I can't check now, but i think i have already found it through your answer. I AM running 'Track Eraser' at system shutdown, so that must be it. I think that program cleans winamp as default too. I'll check the settings, but i'm pretty sure that's it. Many thanks, i would have never thought of looking in that area! Cheers, Henk99 |
