Winamp trying to connect to internet when I open it
I have just installed Winamp 5.12 ...
And I have noticed this problem when I open Winamp, it tries to connect to the internet. I have not installed Winamp Agent and I have set all the preferences to "No avaiable internet" and uncheck '"Look for new Online Media Channels on exit" but it still continues to do that. Can you help me with this problem. |
Hmmm... strange.
Winamp > Prefs > General Preferences Connection Type: Not connected to internet Uncheck: Check for new versions of Winamp at startup Uncheck: Allow winamp to report anonymous usage statistics Prefs > Station Info: Uncheck: automatically show info on station tune-in (probably irrelevant in your case, as you surely can't be playing internet streams) Prefs > Predixis MusicMagic: Uncheck: Connect to server (though you probably didn't even install this plugin) Prefs > SHOUTcast Wire: Uncheck: Update on launch (though you probably didn't even install this plugin either) Prefs > Media Library > Online Media > Modify Preferences Uncheck: look for new channels on exit (yes, I know you said you already unchecked this) Prefs > Jump to File (plugin) > Enqueue Options tab Uncheck: Check for new version when Winamp starts Prefs > Plugins > Input: CD plugin (in_cdda) > config: Uncheck: Use CDDB (maybe you start Winamp with an Audio CD playing?) Prefs > Plugins > Input: Windows Media Decoder (in_wm) > config: Uncheck: Try to acquire licenses silently (maybe you're playing drm-protected wma's?) Uncheck: Retrieve metadata for streams (again, probably irrelevant in your case) And that is all the relevant settings. The only other setting which could be causing it is if you're using some 3rd-party plugin or skin which also has its own internal update checker, in which case, check the config(s) for said skin/plugin and disable the relevant setting. As for Winamp gui itself... I don't suppose you've got the Media Library open at any of the Online Media, Now Playing, or SHOUTcast Wire views? (all of which require an internet connection). Finally, with Winamp closed, open winamp.ini (root Winamp folder) in Notepad, and edit the following line accordingly: [WinampReg] NeedReg=0 This will prevent Winamp from trying to register itself at startup. Which is equivalent to checkmarking "do not ask until next install" and clicking "Later" on the final screen of the installer options. |
I will try this later.
Thank you very much ! |
