Google Logo

Todays google logo kicks ass

http://www.google.com/logos/braille.gif

It is in celebration of Louis Braille birthday.

ElChevelle 4th January 2006 14:15

Ahhh, thought I recognized it.
SHWEET!

Evil Lu 4th January 2006 14:33

Bit pointless though for the blind people. They haven't even raised the bumps on my screen. This internet braille will never catch on.

Widdykats 4th January 2006 14:38

I love the way it looks! I'm sure the blind people will appreciate it!

psst. It does look cool, though!:D

auhsor 4th January 2006 14:52

Weird... The www.google.com/ig (the personalised homepage) usually has the normal logo, just a little smaller. This also includes the special logos.

Well today it has http://www.google.com/logos/7th_birthday_results.gif which is kinda weird. It still has the same hover text as the braille one.

I've actually seen the braille touch pads for computers - they're pretty cool - a row of pins that raise or lower depending upon the letters/numbers represented. What I could never understand though, are braille keypads for pass machines, directly in front of a screen whose instructions they can never read....

Widdykats 4th January 2006 15:37

What's a pass machine? Without a monitor?

Joel 4th January 2006 17:29

I <3 google images
Is like a way to tell people that they actually update their contents, not a bot :p or is it?

What I could never understand is drive up ATM's that have braille keypads.

MStar 4th January 2006 23:54

They use the same keypads as regular ATMs. Cheaper and easier.

beanboy89 5th January 2006 00:59

When I first saw the logo this morning, I thought it was a binary clock. :igor:

The americans with disabilities act makes all that crap necessary. I worked at a business that it would have been impossible to work at if you had a disability, but the company had to "ADA" the bathrooms company wide (at $25,000) a toss.

You could have had a party in one of the new bathrooms, but it was $25,000 .... literally down the crapper.... :)

The ADA has more pork than a ham sandwich.

My blind friend needs free directory assistance more than a 4 star crapper or a braille ATM.

I guess they're wasn't enough pork in that.

randman 5th January 2006 01:53

Please don't just offhandedly dismiss the Americans With Disabilites Act. I know it has it's flaws but it has done a lot more good than bad. Trust me, there are other sections of our government that carry a lot more pork and do a hell of a lot less for the better good of the people.

Thanks and have a great day! :)

Just because you're legally blind doesn't mean you can't see anything. There are people driving who have the capability to drive safely who can't see the numbers on the ATM keypad. These people drive a helluva lot better than you dumbasses who just can't go anywhere without a cell phone stuck to your head.

Widdykats 5th January 2006 12:51

And someone may drive a blind person to a "drive-up" ATM.
Just because you are visually impaired or blind, doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to easy access your money!:D
In the house, two houses down from me, is a lady with her new seeing eye dog and her now retired seeing eye dog(Henry)Olympia, her new Lab gets to go shopping with her and I have seen her at the King Kullen shopping with "Olly". She uses the ATM inside.:D

ElChevelle 5th January 2006 13:00

I'm sure they just buy all ATM pads the same whether they're used inside or out.

Widdykats 5th January 2006 13:04

Yep! But I guess my point was, either way, inside or out,
ATM's should be "user friendly" to everybody! :D

and their dog!
