this stream plays with music match, but not with winamp 5.12 - http://edtv.opb.org:8000/radio.mp3
I believe I opened 8000 on my external firewall, and I'm not having problems with any other links or shoutcasts I can't seem to find any relevant info on the forums, but I don't have much experience with winamp. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks [Edit --> DJ Egg] Yup, 'tis a weird one... Ref: http://www.opb.org/programs/streams/ |
I think it's actually a QuickTime Streaming Server stream, renamed from rtsp to http
rtsp://edtv.opb.org:80/radio.mp3 rtsp://edtv.opb.org:8000/radio.mp3 Alas, Winamp doesn't currently support rtsp Whatever the case, it's being looked into. |
The Tara plugin should play this OK if you have it installed.
Copy and paste one of the rtsp:// links given by Egg to Winamp Menu > Play URL.(Ctrl+L) UJ |
I couldn't get it to play with Tara. Could you, ujay?
afaik, Tara supports rtsp:// but doesn't support mp3. It looks like it connects (doesn't timeout) but the stream never actually plays... unless it's still buffering (I gave up after a few minutes, heh), or unless you need RealPlayer or QuickTime installed (I've got Real Alt and QT Alt). |
No problem here Egg.
The station is currently relaying the BBC World Service. Connecting without streaming can sometimes occur if you have Tara set to 'Process audio through Winamp' but this doesn't seem to be the case here, both settings work. Either way you should see it buffer to 100% anyway. *** Real player not installed. [edit] May be worth giving it a second try, perhaps the station goes off air part of the day. ------------------------------- *** Unrelated, but you can sometimes force a crash on exit (AppName: winamp.exe | AppVer: 5.1.2.275 | ModName: unknown | ModVer: 0.0.0.0 | Offset: 00f627f6) in the case where setting 'Process audio ... ' fails. Looks as if clicking 'Stop' disconnects, but Winamp doesn't know it. Guess this is what you would expect if the two are not talking to each other :) UJ |
Hmm... strange. It plays ok for me in WMP, but not Winamp.
|
Other way around here, get a 'required codec not installed' error with WMP.
Who knows ? UJ |
Ok, I got the rtsp stream to work in Winamp after going to:
Programs > Real Alternative > Real Media Settings and clicking Next then Finish which probably registered the rtsp transport protocol. |
Useful tip that Egg.
I was going to suggest reinstalling RA as I've noticed I need to do this sometimes when stuff's been upgraded. Re-doing the settings is obviously all it takes :) Sorted WMP out as well, I'd been playing around with the LAME acm codec(not a lot of success) and had Fraunhofer turned off. Doh! UJ |
