Winamp 5.12 crashes when I click on a large vid
Hi I have been having difficulty in the last few releases of winamp. WHen I click on a video thats say larger than 20mb (note: i dont know if its related to size, but it only seems to happen on large files) the vid may load and play for 1 sec, or atleast the video box will size itself to the correct size and then windows will tell me winamp crashed. I dont know what Im doing wrong or what not. Also this does occasionally happen in wmp but less often. I know the vids play in winamp because on occasion the file will load up fine. Anyway is there some sort of memory prob with winamp and wmp??? Its a pain, dont want to dump winamp as im a long time user, but i may have to.
It happens when i select the file through winamp or windows folders. Also I caught the last error it sayws appname winamp.exe and app ver 5.1.2.275 and modname mp4vdec.ax mod ver: 0.8.7.0 I hope someone may know, oh and I did reinstall winamp and did with a clean reinstall of it. Oh and i know this is a winamp site this is what it says when i get the error in WMP 10, AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.3802 ModName: quartz.dll ModVer: 6.5.2600.2749 |
Your problem is being caused by some bad system DirectShow Filter(s), not by code in Winamp or WMP. Have you maybe installed some dodgy codec pack or something?
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....d=161361#specs First, we need to know what the file format of these videos is, eg. .avi container with DivX or XviD video content and MP3 audio content, or .mpg extension with MPEG-2 video content and MP2 audio content, etc. You can use G-Spot to help determine this information. Also, you need to locate this mp4vdec.ax directshow filter on your hard drive, and tell us the exact path to it, eg. C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\Bin\MP4VDEC.ax You can then unregister said bad filter using regsvr32, eg. Start > Run regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\Bin\MP4VDEC.ax" and then install some decent dshow filter such as ffdshow (which handles all xvid, divx, etc etc videos). Other information required, especially if the problem persists: DirectX Diagnostic (dxdiag) log My_Plugin_List.txt (see "system specs" link for full info) |
