Never follow food preperation instructions

And this mainly applies to things that are cooked by microwave...I wanted some Bagel Bites, and the instructions on the box say that if frozen, you nuke them for 6 minutes...

6 minutes in the microwave they go, and they come out a sizzling pool of melted cheese...

I've never made Bagel Bites myself before...I should've just followed my instinct and took it out when it even just looked ready at 3 minutes...

Does your power output of your microwave match the instructions on the packaging?

/grabs first thing out of freezer.....

2 minutes on full power for 850w Category E ovens
1.5 minutes on full power for 900w Category E ovens

If the instructions don't include adding other ingredients or any sort of special prep, then I don't bother reading them. If the instructions consist of nothing more than "Remove from box, peel back corner, nuke for 4 minutes on HI" then I just nuke it the way I see fit. :P And I've found that nine times out of ten, when they say "microwave on HI for 4 minutes" that generally means that I should nuke it on 60% for 6 minutes instead.

Screw it, eat it raw.
It'll warm up in your bowels.

Lain 29th January 2006 19:24

you people are making me hungry. Bagel bites sound so good right now.
Yeah, my family just got a new really powerful microwave, and they were like ho shit! and set bread on fire and burned stuff.

I rarely follow the cooking directions on microwave food stuff. It's more exciting when you guess.

sgtfuzzbubble011 1st February 2006 03:31

Fun when the lights flicker. :D

dlichterman 1st February 2006 03:58

lol we cant run our microwave and certain lights or we will trip a breaker and half the lights will go out.....then have to go outside and flip the switch

Those bagel bites look yummy, kinda like mini pizza's.....mind you one thing I like that my friend brought back from america was this cinnamon tasting gum....

rockouthippie 1st February 2006 19:37

There is a difference in quality on nukers. I have a good Sharp, and basically you can just toss stuff in it and it gets cooked and not burned.

100 % power... whatever minutes ...

Doesn't burn the ends on a burrito.

The nuker I had before this one sucked.

mysterious_w 1st February 2006 21:22

They look proper rank.

Anyway, the quarter punders I grilled (grilling beats nuking) said 14-16 min, and it took around 14-16 min.

I then discovered that ketchup and grated parmesan is a suprisingly good burger topping.

ElChevelle 1st February 2006 21:58

As is worscheschestersorcerershire sauce!

eheiney 1st February 2006 22:03

I top my burgers with a bun.

:igor:

MidnightViper88 1st February 2006 22:38

Real men eat burgers without the buns!

A little ketchup, cheese, and fat on the fingers don't kill no one...

ElChevelle 1st February 2006 23:31

If I could post this picture I have.....

From her backside, you'd swear she had an Arby's roast beef sandwich stuck sideways in that one place.

That should be enough to put a mental image in your head;)

Damn Arby's for not providing pictures on their website!

Kinda like this but the bun is intact and there isn't that yellow ooze we call mustard dribbling out of it.
