This network has been permanently banned
I have used shoutcast for a number of years (1999) My content doesnt violate anything that I am aware of. I have the artist permission to broadcast said materials both on the live fm show that I do as well as my net stations.
In the early years my content was much much racier but never pornographic. I dont sell advertisments.I have been a proffesional broadcaster with stations like wifc 95.5 #1 station in wisconsin and kxle 93.5 washington, so I was very suprised to find this yesterday when I came home to find: [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (This network has been permanently banned due to a previous violation of the SHOUTcast directory terms of service.) I have recently experiance some one coming listening my station for 2 mins or so and then when they leave the log goes crazy adding rapid listner numbers and taking the user id #'s into the thousands, I assume hacking my shoutcast server, and no one seems to care about this, but I dont see how this is my fault. I have read lots & lots of post and understand that if someone on my subnet is violating they should be punished. but why me, shoutcast can host thousands of servers but not ban individual id's and stations seems weak to me. I have emailed craig but as of yet no reply.I understand that I may have my listener count set to high, but come on I dont think I have ever seen more than 5 listeners at a time and most of us can say the same thing. so whats the harm there really give me a good justification.I shut down usually for 2-4 hrs a day to update material. as I get conformation letters from the artist I have screened to air. If I am in violation I would absolutly change with a simple email, and obiviously I dont think that it would be any harder to send a form letter stating the violation and what needs to change rather than just banning me, it would take the same amount of time for someone if they had to go in and ban me as to send a form letter maybe even quicker, I am shocked that shoutcast can host 13,000 plus servers but cant do a simple email, and appalled at the lack of care for those of us that try to do a good job. I do realize that there is a need for some of this but come on its not like we make any money at all doing this, so why the harshness, its suppose to be fun and entertaining right. I will wait this week and see if I hear something from Craig that will help me understand. but I assume that he may not care either. Then I guess if I must I will go else where. I will see that the radio people I know are aware of this and they are many, as well as listners that I have in my live show on a station that will remain nameless, and is set to go satalite this year. and they dont use shoutcast either. Now I guess I know why. I apologize for the length of this post but I really am shocked after almost 6 years off and on to have had this happen. sincerely Peter Lee and Formerly VIGILANTE RADIO on shoutcast.com |
there are other mods you can pm regarding this if you haven't gotten a response in a few days. Posting in the forum this issue won't get you anywhere, especially if you do not include an IP or anything relevant about the actual server. Station names mean nothing to us.

unless im missing something, i have had no contact with you.

i haven't gotten anything from him either
You really expect us to hunt down each offending station and e-mail them and just let them keep their stream up in the hopes that they will comply? Get real dude... use some common sense. |
