Occasionally when Winamp moves to the next song in my huge playlist, it either:

Locks up for about 12 seconds (mouse cursor sticks, no program response) and then it skips ahead one or two songs past the next one or:

It simply skips a few songs. No, I do not have shuffle on.

I can't reliably reproduce this minor bug because it is completely random. Here's an example of the bug:

+Plays song #42
+Song #42 ends Or sometimes is close to ending when this occurs)
+Winamp either pauses for about 12 secs or does not pause at all
+Winamp moves to song #43, then skips it and moves to 44 or 45 (not never 46 or later)

The files aren't corrupt because I can go back and click on 43 or 44 and they play just fine.

This isn't really all that annoying, I am just reporting it to try to be helpful in case somebody else finds it annoying but can't/doesn't know how to report.

Notes:
+My playlist is really, really large--Over three thousand MP3s from 128-256Kbps, mostly VBR.
+Most MP3s were encoded with the newest +Fraunhoufer Institute encoder using VBR and averaging about 160Kbps.
+I am running in Windows 2000 SP1 on an Athlon
+Most of the MP3s are being read over the network from my Linux Samba fileserver. The fileserver works perfectly and has never messed a file up before (so I doubt that's the problem)

i second this bug. my machine doesn't ever lock up because it's dual processor, so i can't tell you if winamp is killing a cpu for a few seconds, but i do know that winamp will sometimes skip over a few songs. the songs are on a local drive and do exist. if i double click on the playlist entry, winamp will go back and happily play the file. as far as i can tell, the bug is random. if i figure out a pattern, i'll post it.

very very occasionaly under high cpu usage mine does that too. Playlist is only about 200 files avg 160 k mp3s + a few mids from people ....
Win98 2nd ed + Celeron processor, coming from c: so its probably not your setup but winamp... again as my reply to the flickering cursor question defragmenting the hard drive works for fixing this, but that maynot be an easy fix for your system

I've seen this playlist bug happen a few times too.

Another bug that rather annoys me is when I double click an mp3 from windows explorer then double click another one too quickly, it queue's up the 2nd song instead of clearing the playlist and starting the 2nd clicked song. It only occurs if you do it fast, which I sometimes do when I click a file then say "Doh, wrong file" then double click the song I meant to click in the first place.

And no, I do not have enqueue as my default click option... everything works ok if I wait a few seconds before clicking the next song. Just for kicks I tried double clicking as many files as I could really fast, and I got 5 to 6 songs queued in the playlist every time.

Maybe I should just lower my caffeine intake. :)
