Can't start Winamp

Hi

After upgrading from 5.13 to 5.2 Winamp keeps crashing whenever I start it. I don't get any error messages, the computer just reboots. I tried to switch back to 5.13, but I still got the same problem. The strange thing is, all Versions prior to 5.13 made my computer crash as well.

StreamingRadio on my Gentoo Box works fine.

Thanks!

My system:

Abit AX8 (onboard sound)
WinXP SP2 (plus updates)

Have you tried a clean install with no third party plugin?

Thanks for answering!

Yes I've tried. Uninstalled Winamp and deleted the directory.

I have to say I don't know many programs that make my system reboot when crashing.

Could you try a clean install without Sonic ripping/burning support? That component is known to have caused problems in the past. Just uncheck it in the installer.
While you're at it, you could also uncheck other features you don't need (eg. SHOUTcast Wire, Portable Device support, etc.).

If that doesn't help either, please provide more info (read this!).

Doing a clean uninstall did not help. So I switched back to an older windows image and it worked until today, when I installed a Microsoft security update. Now I've got the same problem again. The only other things I installed in the meantime were Divx, Xvid codecs and Civilization IV.

Really annoying.
