NOTHING in online services
I am attempting to find the shoutcast internet radio/tv in the new version of winamp. I did a few forum searches prior to posting this, and everyones solution is "maybe you didnt check online services during the installation" or "click online services>ahoutcast TV" or "make sure shoutcast TV is checked under online services". i have done all of these 2 or 3 times, making sure everything was configured correctly, it is.
the problem i am having is that, when i click on "online services" NOTHING is in the window to the right, only a grey void; no options at all, nothing. so, please help :igor: |
And under Online Services (in the left pane of the ML), the various media listings aren't there either?
Do you have a software firewall, and if so, is it configured to allow Winamp to access the internet? Do the settings under Prefs > General Preferences reflect your internet connection? Are you using the final 5.2 version, and not a beta pre-release? (just to be sure...) System specs would be useful as well. |
Also the Online Services (and other functions of the ML) uses MSIE as a front end. Try adding try adding *.winamp.com and *.shoutcast.com to the Trusted Sites Zone...
Control Panel > Internet Options icon > Security tab > Trusted Sites icon > Sites button |
i went back and re-downloaded the player just to be sure i had the correct one. I did the "full" installation. i went to see if there was anything in the "Online Services" thing in the ML, but it was the same as before. there arent any options at all when i click on "Online Services", only a solid grey window to the right, and nothing appears under it when i click it.
i checked my settings and they are all okay. system specs: win XP sp1 (i just re-formatted, havent finished all my updates yet) 512mb RAM its a DELL pc i really think thats all that has any relevance to winamp... this might be related though: i am unable to connect to any websites using IE for some reason, it was fine earlier yesterday... |
That's your problem then... Winamp uses Internet Explorer to display the media listings, as JonnyMac pointed out.
If IE is not working anymore, you may have serious problems and we may not be able to help. You could post a HijackThis log to see if one of us can find a clue in there. See the system specs link I gave above. Also, have you tried what JonnyMac suggested? You can also finish your updates first. Upgrading to SP2 may get it all to work again. |
Here is the log from the HijackThis scan:
code: (sorry to spam :) ) i tried JonnyMac's suggestion, it didnt change anything. Installing sp2 didnt help either. Wouldnt i still see options in the Online Services tab even if IE werent able to connect? |
I didn't notice anything special in your log.
Sorry, I don't know what's going on there... As far as I know, the Internet Explorer engine is also used for the start page (containing the links to the various listings, and some options) of Online Services. What do you see when you go to the Now Playing section in the ML? (just to compare...) You could try resetting some settings in IE to see if that helps, but maybe you already did that... Anyone else ideas? |
