Vertical Sync
So, I hate "torn video". To those who don't know what that is, it's when a video or game is playing in a certain frequency of frame refreshes that it mismatches your monitor's refresh rate causing bars that tear the video into portions of two different frames (as the screen refreshes from top-down).
So, is there anyway in Winamp to enable vertical sync (or add a command that you can choose the framerate) to prevent this tearing? If not... this needs to be considered. From what I know, AVS is DirectX scripted and therefore should be able to support vertical syncronization (same would apply to OpenGL)? |
AVS is software rendered and therefore is also not supported under DirectX nor OpenGL
furthermore here's the link you want: http://forums.winamp.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=85 |
lol now he'll never come out ;)

Okay, I got that... AVS and DirectX is a no no... no idea where it came from.
Oh well, guess I'll just deal with the tearing... |
Why would you get tearing on a monitor?. Weird. Anyway, they'res an option in Winamp someplace to sync the frame rate to the sync rate. Look in preferences, it's there some place.
Maybe that's what you're after?. |

Look here:
Preferences-->Video-->Synchronize video to screen refresh rate (off by default). I've had to use this on an LCD before, because the monitor was too fast. |

Did you try what I suggested in your other post?

In AVS it's called wait for retrace.
edit: bleh, this is why crossposting sucks! |

Ah, you're using overlay mode.
Yeah, it only avoids tearing in the AVS window (or in fullscreen). |
