Winamp Installation Problem.

Hi,
i tried installing the newest version of winamp (5.2, running windows xp pro, sp2, 256 ram, 800 Hz) and it installs fine. Then comes the part where you send of your email address and all of that and then comes the bit where it says "Run Winamp". It never runs it, or rather it runs but its not there.
When using Alt+Tab I can see the Winamp symbol in it. When opening the Task Manager, winamp isn't under running applications, however its under processes but it doesn't go away when I press "End Process".
I just reinstalled windows and i'm unsure whats causing this problem. I have tried everything you suggested but deinstalling and reinstalling has not helped. Restarting the computer does not make winamp work. I'd really like to use winamp because i think its the best mp3 player out there, but i can't get it to work. I've reinstalled about 5 times now, without luck.

Can anyone help me?

In desperate need of music,
Jeste.

Try restarting your computer. I've had rare (once every 20 months rare) cases in which nothing was loading in the task bar and restarting my computer fixed it.

Try installing Winamp without the portable device support. Contrary to the "clever" response to your problem, a reboot didn't fix my install that did the same as yours. I think it has something to do with one of the Creative dll files, but like you, I just wanted to listen to some music, not figure out what's wrong. I do that all week at work.

Now, I've got to put back my shortcuts and skins, like I had to do after the last Winamp update.

Mike
