winamp blocks working storage...
Some days ago i bought a new pc using Win XP Home Edition (I had Win 2000 before). since i installed winamp (i uninstalled and re-installed it several times since), it blocks as soon as i want to skip a song. the user interface of winamp won't react to anything for about 40 sec. when i click (ctrl, alt, del) i'm being told that winamp doesn't react anymore....
when i create a new playlist, it works well - untill i reboot. after that i have the same problem again. it's really annoying not to be able to skip songs because the program is being blocked for 40 sec each time. does anybody know what i can do about this? thanks! |
what exactly is it that's blocking winamp? (windows firewall/security center?)
|
i have no clue..
do you think winamp is being blocked by something? then it's probably the firewall... where can i see the configuration of it? |
What kind of songs are you playing?
A cd, local files, or files stored on a network drive maybe? Mp3/wma/etc? Firewall would only be relevant if you're playing files online... Did you install any 3rd-party Winamp plugins/skins? Are you using the latest version? (i.e. Winamp 5.21) Freezing of Winamp can also occur because of some virus scanner scanning the Winamp folder. A HijackThis log and my_plugins_list would be useful: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....d=161361#specs |
hi,
thanks for your tips with HighJackLog! there was a Virus Scanner pre-installed which obviously blocked the winamp playlists... since i uninstalled it, winamp works perfectly again (concerning this issue, didn't have any other problems yet) thanks again for helping!!!!!! cheers, florian |
