We have GOT to start posting funny/witty posts to this forum, the Bitchlist and General have virtually sucked the life outta Skin Love.

Is anyone working on a new skin design? If so, let us know, give us pics, etc. Communicate ideas - an outside point of view is often the only way to spot flaws invisible to a skin's creator.

My "Round" skin is going nowhere, I have basically lost all enthusiasm for finishing it. I can't even get myself to fix up the Region.txt. I'll upload it if anyone wants to check it out.

I decided yesterday to make a new skin, but I had no idea what to base it on. So I've got a main.bmp, which has colour, texture, and no subject:
http://members.optusnet.com.au/~iomegajaz/newskin.jpg http://members.optusnet.com.au/~iomegajaz/newskin.jpg
Any ideas?

I think if we all wait until WA3 arrives, this forum will wither and die. Make skins, even if there is the risk of obsoleteness in the not-so-distant future. So what?

Be creative, skin WA2.x, you know you want to.

Cheers,
motivatojaz

What I have noticed is that there hasnt been any really cools technical looking skins recently!

The spyamp series is dead, I guess Mike Cao must be really busy with something! Or he's given up hope in winamp!

Comeo somebody do something that makes winamp look like some other damn software (meaning really cool and high tech). I am working on one but its too early to say whether I'll finish it. got the main and eq done, I have no idea what to do for the buttons thats been one of the biggest challenges for me in skinning ( getting really cool buttons)

Don't worry iomegajaz...I'm back, and since my post is Skin Love, I'll try to liven things up here again.

We need some more controversial arguments...hehehe...

iomegajaz 8th October 2000 22:33

Mmmm, controversy....

Jaz....you would laugh...alot...if you ever saw my skin folders! http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif A texture here, some really different EQ sliders there....good starting ideas, but no thoughts on a "theme" to go around them! Makes me wonder if all the "regulars" here to Skin Love collaborated on a skin....what we would end up with! A Jekyll & Hyde skin? Could be fun! http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Zeruel....isn't it always nice to come "home" where your loved?! http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

What I was TRYING to say before my idiocy rudely interrupted me, was that this is Raj's new skin, titled (duh) rajio 2000

http://members.optusnet.com.au/~iome...shaftedpic.jpg

Download it here

The only difference betwen mine and Raj's skins is the quality. My bare base sucks, his cool skin rocks.

Make skins like this. This skin rocks. You want to rock don't you? Yes you do. http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Download it. Discuss it. Live it. Skin Love it.

Raj 8th October 2000 23:00

well to explain that skin; it's not ACTUALLY called "rajio 2000". that's just the title put on it for now. (it used to have a proper title there but to spite the client shafting me i changed it). It's not done, i know. But look...it still different and has potential. like taking an old TIE-Interceptor and modifiying it to be a kickassin' hot-rod

Zeruel 8th October 2000 23:46

Yes Jayn, yes it is.

Zeruel 9th October 2000 02:41

Oh, fuck yeah, iomegajaz...I was just checkin' your site, when I see 3 of my favorite movies:

Mallrats, Dogma, and Clerks. Hell yeah. Those movies are fucking classics.

ElChevelle 9th October 2000 04:56

Some DICK stole the DVD version of Mallrats from my local video store!

iomegajaz 9th October 2000 05:41

Zeruel: You know it. Can't go past Clerks IMHO..

MAKE SKINS. GO NUTS.

Zeruel 9th October 2000 06:09

"Can't go past Clerks"...?
As in, Clerks is the best of the 4?

Cause I don't know about that!
I'd have to go with Mallrats, though Dogma would be running close behind.

That's just me, though.

iomegajaz 9th October 2000 06:22

Clerks will always be my fave, followed by Mallrats, Chasing Amy and finally Dogma. I think Dogma was too much of a "Matt & Ben" movie, and while I think Ben Affleck is a GREAT actor and their Good Will Hunting script was one of the best written I have come across, Dogma wasn't really a View Askew movie. It was distributed by Lions Gate, as opposed to just View Askew doing it themselves, and I think that detracted from it.

[This message has been edited by iomegajaz (edited October 08, 2000).]

Zeruel 9th October 2000 07:22

Oh my fucking god. You didn't really like Dogma? And even worse, you put Chasing Amy above it?!?! Ugch! I don't even consider Chasing Amy a Kevin Smith movie. I hate that fuckin movie.

One good reason why Chasing Amy sucks: Very little Jay and Silent Bob.

One good reason why Dogma is fucking hilarious: Jay and Silent Bob have the *MOST* lines and parts than in any movie. And just for that fact alone, it makes the movie fantastic. But most importantly, it's got an incredible story. The movie was made well. Great story, yet still consists of random hilarious comments. Sure, Jason Lee wasn't in it that much, but what are ya gonna do.

Clerks: Great movie.

oratem 9th October 2000 13:11

I like Clerks and Dogma a lot. I didn't really take to Mallrats too much and I only liked one scene from Chasing Amy -- the scene when Bob chewed out Jay.

I especially loved Dogma for its satire on the Catholic church. I almost lost it when they unveiled the "Buddy Christ" statue and the Catholocism Wow campaign (later changed to Catholocism Ow! after Bartleby goes to town on the crowd).

Clerks, however, is my favorite. I can't put my finger on why, though.

Later,

Oratem

iomegajaz 9th October 2000 17:16

That's actually the "Crosshatch" filter, over the top of a simple "Clouds" background.

How would you suggest altering it? It's still in a PSD, so changes can be readily made. http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Blown away huh? Strangely enough, I believe you.... http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Might as well have been with Kevin Smith at the helm............Kevin Smith IS View Askew!!!! Lions' Gate merely funded the movie.
Next up for Kevin, writing and directing a series of Fletch movies!

Aye, Jayn and Jaz! It's good to know I'm not the only one with unfinished skins on my hard drive. Difference is, though, most people seem to have actually finished atleast one.

Must get cracking... http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/mad.gif

I am, without a doubt, a "things" skinner. While I can use textures and colors in a graphic element, they're always part of an attempt to create some object.

For instance, I actually like Xerxes idea that Jaz's Round skin be made into an aquarium (or goldfish bowl, really. Hmmmm... (See, there I go again)).

Round also seems suited for a Smilies skin. Can't you just see it now, one big smiley with all those forum smilies as controls?

Raj;

Rajio 2000 (we'll call it for now) is wicked!

My only comment: the flames remind me of the Hotwheels logo.

Can you feather them into the background, to make them look less like a single bit layer pasted onto your heavily detailed background?

------------------
-- this space intentionally left blank --

Raj 10th October 2000 01:24

well i tried that to hav a couple layers of flames under it (with each laye darker than the next too) but it looks better this way.
the gimick jives mo bettah like this i beleive.

cappy17 10th October 2000 02:15

OK.

[Edit - forgot to add the link]
Okay, I've ditched the crosshatch ("Coloured Pencil" for Xerxes http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif) texture, and have changed it to, umm, something else. It looks weird, which is good.

Jayn: If you still prefer the crosshatch-look, I'll continue to develop than style alongside the new one http://forums.winamp.com/ubb/smile.gif

Please give me comments along the lines of "that sure does suck", or "that is the best (base for a) skin ever" - whichever you feel is appropriate.

OK -- different it is. And the theme (which you said was missing before) would be....?

The background has great potential, but it doesn't exactly blend with the frame. I'll be interesting in seeing how you tie it all together. -- Don't stop now.
