Media Library Freezes When Adding Files
 

Hello. What's occuring is that the newest version of Winamp (5.21), as well as 5.2 and 5.13 (haven't tried any others) have suddenly begun freezing on certain files whenever I try to do the "add media files to my library". I can drag-and-drop and they work fine, but if I mass search it freezes everytime. Firstly, all of these versions worked fine on the same files before (I just reformatted my computer yesterday, and now winamp is acting up). Also, they are regular mp3 files, not wma's with DRM. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you know which files the ML is freezing on specifically?
If so, perhaps you could upload one of them somewhere so we could try as well? Any international/weird characters in the filename/tags?

Do you only have mp3 files in the Watch folders? (no shortcuts or other files?)

Please provide system specs.

And nope, there's nothing particularly odd about the file. It has no ID3v2, just an ID3v1 tag with just Title and Artist filled out.

Yes, I only have music files, mostly mp3. There may be a few wma's mixed in, but they don't cause problems.

That file gets added fine for me, so I guess it's not a problem with the file itself.

Do you have any 3rd-party plugins installed? (especially input plugins like mp3pro?)

You could also post a HijackThis log (see system specs link above for instructions), perhaps it'll give some clues...
