the same file twice on the portable player
Hi,
i cant sync my portable player with winamp, because winamp makes a copy/second file of all the files which are already on the player! Is there anyone else with this problem and has an idea? or do i have wrong settings? (also the files have completely other names as on my computer) sry for my bad english ;) |

I had originally downgraded back to 5.13 in order to use ml_ipod, but I no longer use the iPod, I just upgraded to a Creative Vision M, so I upgraded Winamp in order to use the new built-in sync... which doesn't work. |
I've never seen anyone use the sync feature... why not just add all the files you want to a playlist, then click "send to ___'s ipod"
works great... except the occasional database corruption, resulting in songs having the wrong name/info... but that could be from using both winamp, and itunes on the same ipod... |

The method I found works best for me, developed with the iPod, was to use song ratings to track items I wanted to remove, or re-rip/edit and re-apply. To this end, with Winamp 5.13 and older with ml_ipod, I could copy the +ratings+ from the portable to Winamp, make changes to my media library and then sync everything back. It would add any new tracks, update chnged ones and remove from the portable tracks I removed from my Winamp library. I don't work with playlists, I have my entire collection on random play or I play by album, which the portable player can do natively. |
