Burning Issues
 

Well, I'm been lurking here for the past 3 days to find an answer about why Winamp doesn't completely burn my CD. I've checked just about everywhere here in the board like troubleshooting, the FAQ, and the search feature but couldn't find anything that will help. My question is:

Winamp stops burning my MP3s and WAV files at the initializing phase which is after Winamp is done preparing the files. It doesn't freeze or anything, it just doesn't get past the initializing phase. I'm wondering if it's Winamp that is causing this or is it the CD. The CD I'm using is a Music CD-R by Memorex. I've even tried burning with other softwares but none of them finish burning the CD. I'm guessing it's the CDs fault and I need to know if that is the problem and how to fix it as well.

Try a different brand of media.

'Music' CD-Rs are designed primarily for use in domestic recorders and may give trouble recording or playing back in a computer drive.

Memorex seem to be particularly bad, see what others who have tried them have to say here :

Well thanks for clearing things up, I guess I should switch brands.

Which is a better brand though before I waste even more money again.

Most types are pretty reliable now, even plain 'white tops'.

Find some small packs to try first, or maybe swap a few with friends to try out different brands.

I'm having the same problem with 5.21, and I've tried several types of media, including Imation, which has worked well in the past. I have re-installed the software. I am running in Burn-Proof mode. Basically, once it gets past the initialization/prep, it pops the cd out.

Also, when I occasionally do manage to burn a cd, it looks like it wasn't successful, based on the "songs to be burned" list - the last 3 or 4 songs show as Prepared, but not as Burned.
