i had my radio online for 3 days now and i had 3 different ip. Pls help me out couse i have to keep chaning that link to website also Aslo some of my listners say that the radio get cut off very offten and the sound is not clear, and with low volume too. thanx |
Lots of questions but lots of answers too! First you need to make sure your ISP gives you a static IP address.. If they only do dynamic ones good luck,,,you would have to keep your system online and/or not restart your router... If it cuts out then you might just not have enough speed/bandwidth for it.. for example if you have cable and are broadcasting at 128kbs not many people are going to be able to connect,,, a good way at lease for me to test in the past is set it for 64kbs mono if it doesn't cut out there but sounds ok leave it there.. The volume problem could be a number of things...Let me know exactly how and what you are streaming I think someone could help you a bit better..
Good Luck |
re:
I think you need call to your Internet Provider and tell about Static IP.
I pay every month to have static IP $13. I think it's the best way to have fixed IP. |
check out www.dyndns.com or www.no-ip.com to get a dynamic dns name.
once you install the software on your machine it will monitor your ip and updates the dynamic name. support for these can be found on their respective sites. |
and to add nick@ss ...
each time your address changed you may need to disconnect reconnect your source (Winamp DSP) since it may try the last ip address used by your hostname since its changing so often. ~ D |
agreed :)

Thank you all, it was great help, i will follow ur advice and i will see.
Thanx |
Sorry again, My ISP is AOL and they do not provide a static Ip address.
Is any other way i can keep my ip to not change. thanx |
Well, yes... but sadly nothing in life is free. A poster above mentioned a static IP from their ISP for $13. Sounds like you contacted AOL and was willing to fork over some money for a static IP but they said no.
So... how about a stream host? You can pick up 15 slots @ 64k from the host linked in my signature below for about the same price and get more concurrent listeners than you could support on your existing AOL line anyway. Nick was kind enough to offer you help on this thread, and I've been very happy with his service. :) |
thanx for you help
i will try my best to find the way |
since you use aol and dont want to get a static IP address. Use a dynamic ip host like the two mentioned above. You then run software on your server PC that detects the ip change, updates the host name again.
*****ample if you have hackerdork.is-a-geek.net (which is one of my dynamic host names :) if and when the ip address changes nobody need to know what that host IP is since the software updates the IP and host info on the fly, so when people wanted to tune in using hackerdork.is-a-geek.net they can because of the changes on the fly (dynamic host name). If you want to learn more about dynamic DNS, just use google. Cheers. ~D |
