Sound clips on Allmusic.com

Is it possible to assign Winamp to play the song clips on Allmusic.com? The clip file types appear to be ASF however I'm not successful at getting Winamp to be the default player for these clips.

When I set Winamp to play ASF's I either get a brief dialog (so brief I can't see what it is) and nothing happens, or I get the brief dialog and then WMP opens up and plays the clip.

I'm really annoyed at WMP and would like it to just go away..

Any ideas?

Winamp 5.22 > Prefs > File Types:

Make sure ASX is selected

(ASX = Streaming Playlist for WMA/ASF/WMV etc)

I've got everything selected, including asx... in Prefs/File Types.. I'm also running 5.22 . WMP still comes up when clicking on a sound clip at AllMusic.com

I suppose I'll just continue to use Windows Media Player since WinAmp fails to work properly..

Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types tab

Scroll down for and hi-lite ASX

Click "Advanced"

Description should be "Winamp playlist file" (without quotes)

"Confirm open after download" should be unchecked by default
(if you checkmark it, then you the 'download/open' popup box thing should stay on screen and prompt you to open or run the asx.. though I recommend keeping it unchecked, heh).

Make sure one of "Play in Winamp" or "Enqueue in Winamp" is the default action (depending on whether you've got "Enqueue" as default action checkmarked in Winamp > Prefs > File Types or not).

The command line (c/o Edit) for "Play in Winamp" should be:

"X:\Path\To\Winamp\Winamp.exe" "%1"

and for "Enqueue in Winamp":

"X:\Path\To\Winamp\Winamp.exe" /ADD "%1"

(Replace "X:\Path\To\" with the actual path to Winamp.exe)

...and that's basically it. 'OK' everything.

Then go to Control Panel > Internet Options:
Clear the internet cache by clicking the "Delete Files" button.

Also note that v5.23 is now available.
Make sure "Associate with playlist files" is checkmarked on Screen 5 of the installer options, and all of m3u, pls, asx will automatically be registered properly.

If the problem persists, then we'll need more info, because it all works perfectly here.
