Docked Toolbar Mode on Dual Monitors

I did a forum search on this and nothing came up at all...

I'm running a dual-monitor setup on a GeForce 6200. The way it's currently set up, the left monitor acts as the primary desk top, and has the task bar, etc on it. The right monitor shows, more or less, what's off-screen to the right of the left monitor. Basically two desktops, using the Dualview setting on the nVidia software.

The issue I'm having right now, is that I want to dock Winamp's main window on the bottom of the right monitor, where the taskbar would be, and the playlist editor on the right side. However, Winamp won't dock -anywhere- on the right monitor. It'll snap to the edges of the screen, but if I try to set it to dock on that monitor via the menu, it'll just dock to the left monitor instead. Trying to drag it into place with the "Dock/Undock windows by dragging" option checked simply won't do anything (it might be worthwhile to note that when the pledit window is docked to the right and has auto-hide enabled, it slides onto the right monitor when it "closes").

Is there any way it might be possible to get Winamp to dock somewhere on the right monitor? Skins such as XMP and Flo will only snap back onto the left monitor if I try to move them over to the right one.

isn't there a setting in prefs to allow for a dual monitor setup? I think there is.

If there is... it is a mighty well-hidden one, as I can't find it.

I don't remember ever having any problems with Winamp docking back when I had a dual monitor setup - Maybe it was because of Ultramon? I'd recommend getting that anyway, dual monitor setups are practically useless without it anyway...

I use Ultramon, and yes, it does make using a multi-monitor setup much easier.

It does not, however, let winamp dock on the secondary monitor(s), only the primary one. (which I am pretty sure is the same as without Ultramon)

Now THAT is new to me - IIRC Winamp had no problem docking on any screen edges, whether they were those of the primary or secondary monitor... This was with Ultramon 2.5 and Winamp 5. I'll see if I can hook up a second CRT to test this stuff again myself, but if my memory serves me correctly it worked fine before too. Hell, it must have, considering the fact that I used the secondary monitor mainly for having Winamp open at all times...

Is it possible that I'm misunderstanding what you guys mean by "dock"? I just read the first post again and it seems to say snapping to the screen edges works, which is what I mean when I say "dock"...

What're you talking about, if not snapping to the screen edges/taskbar?

I meant docked toolbar mode in Winamp Modern and a number of other W5 skins. In which Winamp behaves like the Windows taskbar, with an auto-hide option and all that.

Oh... I just looked around and found the mode you're talking about - never seen that before... so just ignore my posts, hehe. I guess a workaround would just be to use Windowshade mode... but then you'd be missing the autohide etc. options...

I figured out a solution to this and thought I'd share. Set the monitor that you want Winamp to dock in as your "primary monitor" by going to your display settings and checking the "Set this monitor as my primary monitor" checkbox. Winamp will dock to your primary monitor. What else does this effect, you ask? From what I've found, Windows will use it for the login box and other default popup-type messages, but you can drag your task bar to any place you want, if you are concerned about that.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but in Winamp 5.531 this problem still doesn't seem to be fixed.

However there is a handy....5.54 Beta that it is fixed in :)
