Crashing on Startup

1 Attachment(s)
I have looked on the forums for this problem and there were similar problems but they didnt solve my problem. Ever since the new version was released i have been able to access winamp maybe twice.. after that winamp will crash on startup and wont exit unless i go to task manager and end task it. ive tried clean reinstalls maybe 3 or 4 times and have no plugins installed. No error messages come up.

SPECS:
Windows XP SP2
VIA 7VRXP motherboard
AMD Ahtlon XP 1900+
512 MB of Ram
Creatice Sound Blaster PCI
GeForce FX 5600XT 256mb
Directx 9.0c
Winamp version 5.23

Perhaps try a clean install without Sonic Ripping/Burning support. Uncheck it in the installer. In the past the Sonic engine has caused trouble for some users.

If you are on a limited user account, be sure to select 'Separate settings per user' in the installer options.

i unchecked Sonic burning/ripping from the installation and didnt help. Also my account is not limited.

You could try disabling Portable Media Support. It scans for connected devices on startup, maybe something goes wrong there. It's the ml_pmp.dll file in the Winamp plugins folder (C:\Program Files\Winamp\plugins).
Close Winamp, go to the Winamp plugins folder and change the file extension from .dll to .off
You may need to configure Windows to show file extensions:
http://nunzioweb.com/misc/show_file_extensions.htm
To re-enable the plugin, change extension back to .dll

Anyone else ideas?

Yeah, at a guess, it's probably caused by a conflict with Winamp's Portable Player support (ml_pmp.dll / pmp_*.dll) and one of WMP11 or iTunes Portable Player detection, both of which are loading at Windows startup:

O21 - SSODL: WPDShServiceObj - {AAA288BA-9A4C-45B0-95D7-94D524869DB5} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\WPDShServiceObj.dll

O23 - Service: iPodService - Apple Computer, Inc. - C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe

By the way, if you uninstalled Webroot Spysweeper, then you should fix this entry in HJT:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)
