plug in help

I needed a crossfader function besides the one that comes with winamp. So I downloaded 1 called Crossfading output by Justin Frankel,but when I go to preferences under output nothing is there. I need help I'm a newbie

That's an ancient and simplistic plugin. There are many many more to choose from. See this post by JonnyMac.
