well thx 4 many years of winamp but
I have used winamp for a long long time. Recent versions however have made shoutcast playback rather annoying (takes too long to load, hits system HARD and then you cant refreash the list ??????) So i had been using the new and old version. However I wondered if there was an alternative to these probs and I found ZINF. Know i am completly confused for there is NO doubt it has a clearly SUPERIOR sound quality. Oh well all good thing must come to pass aye.
Well thx for the time it did work well/sounded good |
zinf looks ugly, and winamp is one of the best sounding media players around.
shoutcast loading only takes a few seconds for me and uses 0% cpu power. i'd say your just running too many dsp plug-ins and skins with lots of animation if resources are high. |
okay, yeah, winamp has reached it's pinnacle and begun a slow, steady decline into the murky corporate waters that rise ever faster to bury us.

How dare AOL give user free access to online media. Fuck them!
And ever since they took www.shoutcast.com down there is no other way to... oh wait..... |
Decided to register just to post to this thread. I've used winamp for years, but it's just not worth it these days. It was fantastic, but it's just bloatware now. Amorak full time now. Pity.

the fact you can split out more of the player now than could be done really sounds like bloat to me. whatever since each to their own and it's not like anyone's been forced to use it though most of the backlash seems to be related to the online services part which is really just a small part of the player (based on traffic to the site, etc against player installs) so it's pretty pathetic and really like CraigF mentioned in a post, if you can't provide a replacement yourself there's not much that can be said since everything needed is available to make a replacement 3rd party interface.
