Why does winamp not use its own audio?

Winamp effects the whole system wave audio.... This is a massive problem for me. It has led me to use Media Player Classic while playing mp3 and wav....

Anyone know why winamp is written like that?

Winamp only does that when using WaveOut instead of DirectSound (Media Player Classic does too btw).

To change it go to Preferences (CTRL-P) > Plug-Ins > Output and select DirectSound.

o... since the makeover with shoutcast TV I have not really used Winamp... But it looks like they did fix the audio problem...

No, it's been like that ever since Winamp came with a DirectSound Output plugin, which is probably about 8 years.

I tried them both and they both work... So something must of changed...

I used to use winamp with a game (war3) but winamp would effect my war3 audio.... While at night I wanted to play South Park with a other mp3 file. But I also could not use winamp because it effect my audio from Media Player Classic....
