5.24 Freezes on INet Radio connect
 

I got a problem.... apparently started when I installed 5.24 over 5.2... where.... if I click on an INet radio station in my bookmarks and WinAmp does not get an immediate response... well... it freezes... for up to 20 seconds before becoming alive again. With the turnover and the ever changing day to day availabilty of INet stations.... this freezing is a pain.

In an extreme example of this.. I clicked on one station and didn't get an immediate response so then clicked on another... but before my finger went down on the mouse button... the first station started to respond and... you can see the oscilloscope connect progress having progressed to a point but then having froze... but on my speakers the first INet radio station is playing which means the WinAmp windows processing froze but the processing otherwise... including completing the connection and playing the first INet radio station... continued.

I do INet programming and... sounds to me like you are going out to WinSock for the connect with a 20 second timeout and.. if the IP no longer exists... that is what the lack of response is all about.... uh, this timeout value should be user controlled if possible (looked but could not find anything). Also... as far as the windows freezing... sounds like you are doing the initial connect in your Window Message processor and.... that is not good (!)... because if the IP simply is not out there WinSock will wait the 20 seconds and thus freeze the message processor for that time.
