Ubuntu
I installed ubuntu on my laptop, and I am very satisfied. The only thing that did not work was the wireless, which is no surprise because its a broadcom.....ndiswrapper and the instructions I found work just fine. Apt-get is freaking awesome, and synaptic is not too bad either. I did not like gnome before, but I now find it nicer than KDE because it just works. Still need to work on the 3rd button touchpad....but thats no big deal. I need some recomendations on what to do(and install) before I leave for Hawaii.....wont have fast internet.

Automatix (will download and install mp3 codecs, dvd playback support, other useful stuff)
|
1. Make sure you have proper 3D drivers.
2. apt-get install foobilliard (I think it's in universe) 3. Run using "foobilliard" at command line. 4. F1 for controls. :D |
apt-get install perl
:D |
^
I thought this thread was about a little known African Tribe! |
Ubuntu's not a tribe, but it is an African phrase. It means goodwill or something like that. The guy who funded it is African, and means for it to be (amongst other things) an OS that people in impoverished nations can use without charge, which is still useful.
