The Phone
 

I absolutely cannot stand talking on the phone. I hate it with a capital H. I can deal with it for a while and even enjoy it in small doses, but long phone conversations are not something i want to be involved in.

Problem is, my girlfriend loves it and hates talking online. So between her hatred of the computer and mine of the telephone we have a problem. We'll each deal with it for a while, but if a conversation goes on for a long time you can always tell that the other person is irritated. I really don't want the biggest friction in our relationship to be communication. She goes to the same school at me but I stayed on campus for the summer and she didn't so it's only a temporary problem.

Still, does anyone have any advice?

None for you, but I usually hate talking on the phone, but love talking on the phone with my girlfriend.

I guess it's just a personal slant on conversations.

I am the same as you, I despise talking on the phone.

what about a web cam? that way you can both talk or type and you get to see each other.

I notice a sudden lack of turn signals being ised by people on the roads.

I hate phones more than just about anything ever. Almost as much as I hate the people whining in Shoutcast Technical Support about their stations not being listed.

i fucking hate sending sms.

sending sms on any phone handset is a pain in the ass. so i don't bother.

Get a text > voice synthesizer for the PC, position phone next to one of your speakers, you can happily type away your conversation and your GF will think she is going out with Stephen Hawking

Skype, you sit at the PC with a Mic, she has a phone.

Not ideal, cause it would cost, but better than nothing.

skype calls are free out to any number in the us.

Tell her you miss talking to her in person (and seeing her smile, yadda yadda, yadda...) and guilt trip her to visiting you. Then when she shows up, If you wanna talk, talk; and if you don't, make out with her.

I would go with Vie, and Skype it all the way.
