Winamp goes camping...
Thought you would like this. Just a laptop (for winamp), portable hard drive (for mass music storage), headphone jack to cassette adaptor (or rf transmitter if you don't have a cassette player in your vehicle), and a car stereo.
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7346/img0118is1.jpg The Grand Cherokee was lent to us by a friend, since my dad has my truck till his gets fixed. I usually hate anything from the Chrysler Corporation, but the Infinity speakers they put in there are second to almost none. http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/3205/img0117ax1.jpg And for those of you that don't give a shit about the above, here's a pic of the latest addition to our family, a 10 week old yellow lab "Bessie" who came along for the trip (more pics to follow if you request them). She came in handy since it's her cage helping hold the winamp laptop up...: http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/5512/img0104lw6.jpg Have you ever had winamp in odd places? Discuss... |
I don't remember giving you permission to use our cabin. :hang:
Why didn't you just use the stereo inside the cabin? :p (Cheap Emerson tabletop model though.) |

here you go |
Since laptop batteries aren't all that great, I used one of these which will run several AC outlet devices (up to 400 watts total) for 12-14 hours. One of the pup pics caught the corner of it.
http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/236/img0111nm9.jpg A less expensive option would be to get a car cigarette lighter adaptor that runs your laptop, although I needed an extra outlet to power the portable hard drive. For camping this time, we were near Wooster, OH. Nice space pic by the way. I had no idea that Winamp has been on such travels. I notice a classic skin with a minibrowser - what was the first version of winamp that had the minibrowser? |

I have a computer in a backpack that boots directly into Winamp, bypassing the Windows Explorer shell. I used to use it in my truck at work and in the car on trips until I got an iPod.

That looks like a pretty good yallar dog. Looks smart.

@ m0e - that's basically what I use this laptop for (other than work) - it travels in a 2-well bag that usually carries the laptop, hard drive, camera, and a shitload of wires for hooking it up to amps, other computers, car stereos, power strip, etc. Sometimes I'll tote the projector in there too if I need it at work when I'm doing a lecture on career choices or something like that.
http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/4563/img0241wv5.jpg @ ROH - The dog, so far, is pretty smart for a 10-week-old - comes when called, but doesn't differentiate from the other dogs' names yet - it'll come to any name, even shitface or khaki bitch if you use a nice tone of voice. She will sit, bark, come, and go away when told to, and she plays fetch on land or in water. I have yet to see how she is as a hunter though, but I'll take her out with the other 2 dogs this fall. She's incredibly friendly and doesn't run off even if you forget to keep an eye on her - doesn't need a leash at all... or at least not yet. http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/8350/img0136ge5.jpg And one last pic since Renee said it was the best... If I'm getting to picture happy tell me and I'll quit since some connections hate loading a ton of images. http://img432.imageshack.us/img432/2708/img0107ww2.jpg |
i have been to south africa with my winamp ;) Not space but still halfway around the world.
