Playlists

Why can't the new WinAmp allow you the simplicity of the old winamp by allowing you to slide the selected song down to the playlist editor. Clicking the add button in the playlist editor does not save the selected song to the playlist. Upon selecting another song, your first song is removed. Also, upon searching other files the winamp windows will not drop to the back. Are these bugs of the new download?

eh? you're post isn't particularly clear and you've managed to confuse myself and another moderator. can you please explain step by step the issues you're having (if screenshots help then that may be of use)

Hmmm... sorry, but we haven't got a clue what you're talking about, heh.

No playlist functionality has been removed between 2.x and 5.2x

Dragging playlist entries up and down the list works fine here.
Playlist > Add > File works fine here (adds the selected item(s) to end of playlist).
And I really aren't sure what you meant by the last sentence.

Confirm a clean install of 5.24 (or 5.25 beta) with no 3rd-party plugins.

If the problems persist, please read this first.

Saving songs on playlist editor

I start winamp. I go to winamp music. I click on Hard Rock. Select Metallica. Select Nothing Else Matters. Nothing Else Matters shows up in playlist editor. Click on add button at the bottom of playlist editor. Green letters saying "Save to playlist show up.Click on it again "Save File and Save URL" show up. Click on Zack Wylde. Select Suicide Messiah, Nothing Else Matters goes away. If you click on file in the playlist editor, nothing says save to playlist. If you try to click and drag Nothing else Matters little grey icon from the media library to the Playlist editor, nothing happens. Also, while I'm typing this, If I open Winamp it will appear on top of this window. Clicking on this window will not put it on top of winamp. 3rd problem, Click on the Fullscreen view of a video. The Fullsacreen where nothing but the video is showing.( No stop or play buttons. Hit Alt Tab to get cursor back. Win amp will open or pop back over video but will not allow you to adjust the size of the video or will open a smaller with the media library. So now you have stacked windows not responding well. Did A clean Install. Still can not drag a song from the media library list to platlist editor. Still can not save songs to playlist. Click on add, nothing about save to playlist:confused:

Getting better

Did a clean install of Full.Other windows will now move on top of winamp when click on. Also, Full screen viewing is working right. Still can not save songs to playlist editor. Am I missing the button or dropdown tab that says " Save to playlist"? The add button does nothing except say, SAve to file ,Save to URL,Save folder or something.

DJ Egg 28th July 2006 02:55

Yes, that's correct. You can't save any of the Winamp Music files/url's to a playlist or to hard drive, and when you close and reopen winamp, any Winamp Music stream url's will no longer be in the playlist. This is by design, not a bug. Sorry, heh.

"Playlist > Add > Files" is for adding local files to the playlist (eg. mp3 files on your hard drive), Playlist > Add > URL" is for adding standard stream url's to the playlist, and "Playlist > Manage Playlist (modern skin)/List Opts (classic skin) button > Save Playlist" is for saving the current playlist to an .m3u file on your hard drive.
