I would pick a Nissan over a Ford anyday
I drove a Nissan Sentra (2000-06) last weekend & it was an amazing car! Superb acceleration, beautiful steering control even at top speeds, high quality finish of interior & exterior - overall it was a superb driving experience for me.
Two days later, I drove a Ford Mustang (almost the same year). I had heard good things about this car, but on driving it I discovered why Ford is such a crap company - interior quality was very poor, door handle, gear, buttons everything were cheap and flimsy. When I went on to drive it, I was appalled more. Performance was weak, I had to push the accelerator to the fullest to even make it start crawling; whereas on the Nissan if I just made the slightest touch, it would fly off in an instant! Steering & Brakes were OK, but overall it was a total letdown after having experienced the pleasure of driving a Nissan. OK, the Mustang had run for 120K miles, whereas the Sentra had 40K. But should that really make the difference? I don't think so. |
Once I get off my lazy ass and do something with my nissan maxima, then you can enjoy the true glory of nissan cars. (so in around 27 years if you care)
Now while I may not hate on cars like mustangs as much as you just said; I'm still more a fan for the more exotic non-us cars. |
only the american fords are crap.
falcon and focus are the only good models. the only nissan I find appealing is a skyline GTR |

Bar quality, I would still personally drive American before Japanese...I would even drive a Chevy or a Dodge, and I'm a Ford guy! Ouch, I just ruined my own reputation... :p |
heh, dodge owned you viper?
by the way, he is right, if one car had 120k and the other had 40k, it's nowhere near a fair comparison, even if the car is in good shape, now if it's had the engine replaced recently, that would be a different story, but your conclusion is totally biased misinformed and lame. :p :D |
i used to drive a 2000 Chevy Malibu LS and it was a superb car. it had good acceleration and handling. it wasn't a "speed demon" but i liked it.

My last Ford driving experience was a new Five Hundred. I only drove it about a 10 mile round trip, and I took it easy the whole time.
Seemed ok - quiet and smooth, but a little overly floaty and soft. I guess in that size car, that's what they're trying for though. The steering and brakes didn't have any feel to them, like I was in a bad driving simulator or something. I don't really think that model is made for an enthusiast, so I shouldn't even be commenting on that. It had one of those CVT transmissions. Wierd to drive - no shifting. Reminds me of snowmobiles and other 2-cycle belt-drive vehicles. |
If you want to drive a Mustang and be impressed, drive an '05+ GT. They're amazing.

Isnt that the one that gets 400hp from its engine?
the same engine that even MG manged to get 600hp from? |

600 was there base model for the MG SV, 1000 was the top spec. It uses the same engine in a lighter body, which had the exta feature that its exposed Carbon Fiber beams over the doors Brained Clarkson on a tight corner. The first car to attack JC, but its out of production because the rest of it was crap and the companies bust. |

Its not so much a cap as just a lack of refinement. Ford basicaly leave the engine as it comes out of the factory, they dont bother to tune it because they assume that the owners will do so if they wish.
That means that you either have to know what your doing and tune it yourself. Hire sombody to tune it for you, at extra cost, or just put up with lack lustre performance from an engine able to do so much more. |

It's also tuned to be smooth. That is the thing about stock V8 Ford engines. It's hard to tell that the car is on.
I wonder how long before we can't drive a V8 anymore. I would miss that. |
Almost any car in the USA will go over 100 mph (160 km?) and 0-60 mph (98 kph) in far less than 10 seconds. What more than that do you need in an everyday car?
(my US to metric calculations were guesses, but you get the idea) I do have a V8 vehicle, but it is a truck which often hauls and tows very heavy loads (boat, firewood, trailer with landscaping gear, etc.). The car I drive is a V6 (240 hp) which is more than enough for me. |
