I wish I was in Nevada
There's this guy on another forum I post at that lives in Nevada...He's talking about in Nevada, there's an annual big machinegun shoot at the Mustang Range, and the dates this year are June 16-18, 2006 (Father's Day weekend) and September 29-Oct. 1, 2006...

You pay that much to have a go with one of them bad boys?
|
Well, let's see...Take for example: To fire off a Colt M4, someone would either A. Have to purchase one for $2000, or B. would pay with their life and sign up for the US Army...Who has $2000 anyway, and 99% of people aren't military material either, so you could just pay $100 instead...Relativly good deal...
But you're right, these kind of costs are a bit much...1000 rounds of .223 could be bought in a box for $100; What a rip-off! :p Seriously, though...Those are the prices...The costs are more than I'm willing to blow off (Though I'm not sure what kind of pockets other people have), but this still sounds cool to at least go to...Though Kentucky is home to Ft. Knox, even we don't have a gun shoot like this... :weird: |
That sounds like fun, although I think my elbows would hurt a bit after I'd get through with everything.

@ Tom - Knob Creek is some damn good bourbon.
@ JFASI - My elbows might hurt a little too, but my right shoulder would hurt a lot more. I don't know how it feels to shoot any of those crazy guns, but it will give you a day of a slightly sore shoulder to target practice with deer rifles all afternoon (and I'm a relatively small guy). My deer rifle is a 30-06, similar in power to the military M1. When I target shoot (a couple weeks before deer season), I'll empty 4-5 boxes, 20 rounds per $10 box. It doesn't hurt for me the day I'm shooting, but that night and some of the next day might be sore. It leaves a big mark that looks like a hickie (did I spell that right?). |

For deer, I like a 25-06. 115 grain Nosler ballistic tips for the ammo. Never use FMJs because the muzzle velocity is so high that the bullet would fly for miles after going through the target. Hornady 75 grain VMAX will detonate varmints at 300 yards. And I do mean detonate!. |
I shoot from a deer stand in a tree, so there's little worry about where the bullet goes after, because the bullet is sunk into the dirt shortly after passing through the target.

That sounds pretty fun. I'd like to try a flamethrower (something a bit bigger than the bugspray + lighter ones ;))

You need to git down to one of the shooting ranges in TX....the machines the guys there are pushing are right up on that list.
