Nobody Likes Clippy
 

I never use the help option in Microsoft Word. And I haven't seen Clippy in years. But the help search-suggestion I saw today when I started to write a paper got me laughing.

Apparently he's the first thing to go in every installation...

So why have they not removed him yet?

dose he rock the Gate's Boxors or somthing?

I though they got rid of the help character in Office 2003?

I couldn't help but think of when the guy wrote the clippy destroying virus while drunk.

Maybe they're getting him ready for Bob 2.0

Yeah, they made a big joke out of it in the first version where he could be properly turned off, they had Flash animations of him meeting various demises and things.

I think in some versions typing in choice curse words will take you to the "how to disable the office assistant" page, too.

Speaking of clippy, wasn't there an old parody video that made fun of that thing? Something having to do with this guy trying to use a program, but got pissed at clippy because it kept asking too many help questions?

I think there were somewhere in the region of seventy thousand of such videos, most terribly unfunny. Gotta love the internet.

My installation of Office 2003 had all assistants disabled by default.
