i want to join a band + make a cd

I'm a teen and i like to sing and i play the piano, so i want to join a band in my school. I just don't really know any ways to get known in my school or even how to find a band for me to join. Does anyone have any ideas how i could get into a band in my school? +rep for all ideas.

And how do i make a cd with the band or solo by myself? Do i need special recording equitment or a recording studio? I don't want cd to be anything fancy, just to have good sound on it. Is there a way to record on the computer other than the sound recorder?(a program that you can lay voice over music.) +rep for all ideas.

Thank You,
MusicPalace

P.s-i want to be a singer when i grow up so i want to start early, your help is needed insanely!

does the WINAMP forum look anything like a talent scout center to you???????

let's keep it real , you ask if you need recording equipment ( you can't even write the word in the right way)

how else do you think you can RECORD your voice!!!!

it looks like people that know stuff about djing so they might know how to mix too.

make a tape, then send it to the big recording studios. they will listen to it, eventually but they might not ring you back if its not worthwile for them.

your not making a master copy, so it just needs to sound reasonable.

i'd highly recommend being an original artist, so write your own songs, rather than playing covers.

i always write my own songs and i have 2 recorded on the computer already.

Spaceplay, wtf?

Drink some cold beer and chill.

I'll have one too if you don't mind.

Either way, yeah, you need some way of recording the music, but like Rocker said, it's usually easy to tell if there's talent or not even with a handheld tape recorder.

If you want a decent CD, you'd have to get a lot of pricy stuff, like a multi-track recorder, several specialized microphones, patch cords, and editing software and/or hardware...

...in addition to prices of the instruments and amps/performance gear items themselves...

Starting a band isn't so bad - go to the local music stores and post fliers with contact info, and post them in the local school band rooms, etc.

You don't have to get all that stuff, Swingdted. He could just buy a cheap Behringer UB5/802 mixer (around $100) and two microphones then set them up in an XY pair formation in a room with some nice acoustics. Just record onto an MP3 player (mine has an encoder line-in). You can get a half decent recording from that.

Most orchestras are recorded this way (with better microphones and mixers of course.).
