licence and operating system?

What is about the licence?

Is it possible to modify the code?

On which platforms does winamp run?

Rocker 27th September 2006 11:51

you can distribute it but you can't modify anything. you are not allowed to change the installer.

winamp runs on windows.(95 and up, apart from NT for alpha, and windows xp for ia64)

Winamp is freeware, but it is not open source. In other words, the changing/modifying/altering of the code is not allowed. (Distribution License)

Winamp is for the Windows platform and is not available for other operating systems. However, success has been reported when used with emulation software. Such as Wine on Linux and Cross Over for Mac.

hi jonny

i woudln't bother attempting to run the latest winamp in windows 95... probably won't work that well. i'd reccommend buying a new computer.

Yup, when I mentioned “Windows platform”, it was a little too generalized, however hopefully the basic point got accross.
