turn off media player support

How do I do it?
Looked everywhere in the options, and I'm sure I missed it somewhere, but I can't find it.

I want to turn it off because I have an external harddisk that is not a music player, and it keeps asking me if I want to do blahblah to it. And I don't. Because blahblah is no good.

Prefs > Plugins > Portables:
Nullsoft USB Device plugin (pmp_usb.dll) > Uninstall

Or with Winamp closed, delete pmp_usb.dll (winamp\plugins folder)
or disable it by renaming to eg. pmp_usb.off

However, when prompted if you want "winamp to manage this drive", if you select "no" then Winamp shouldn't ever ask you again... so I'm not sure what's going wrong there for you.
