Any Placbo fans out there?

I was thinking about getting the greatest hits CD by Placebo but some of the songs on it say 'Radio Edit'....what exactly does that mean? I know they don't really use bad language so it can't be any censorship. I hate to buy all their CDs just to get the original songs, but I also don't know if I want to listen to a Radio Edit version....what does that mean exactly? Is this CD pretty good?

Could be anything, dosn't have to be bad language, could be references to sex and drugs that have been removed.

It's more likely however that they are just trimmed down versions of the songs you already know, shortened for the magical 3 minute airtime slots most songs get on the radio, you put stuff on that's any longer and people tune out.

They might also have provided trimmed versions so they can cram more onto the CD, if the CD is full to 80 minutes and there is still another track to fit on, what do you do, make it a 2 disc set or trim a 30 seconds off each of the tracks on the disc leaving you with a few minutes to play with.

I can't imagine it's the last one through, I don't think Placebo have enough hits to fill a full CD do they :p

Well, it's a singles collection and it's pretty damn good (except for that awful French version of "Protect Me From What I Want).

If you don't want to dish out the cash for the albums, that's the best way to go.

Yeah, radio edit usually means shorter track times in my experience.

Some of them say radio edit even if they never made it to the radio...
