When I upgraded to Winamp 5.3 I noticed that the ID3v2 tag section had a few new info boxes, one being 'album artist'

There's already an artist box and album box, what would go in the new one? How would other programs use this new tag?

Benski explained, for what you can use the new field:

"Usually it's for compilations, where the Album Artist might be "Various Artists" or the name of the record label or something."

If other programs don't support these fields, they'll simply ignore it.

The "new" field is part of the ID3 specifications.

The other fields just show the ReplayGain values, which are written in the ID3V2 tags, if other programs don't support replaygain, then they will ignore these infos.
