Winamp 5.31 Crash
Winamp 5.31 crashes when playing mp3 files or when using shoutcast radio. It seems to crash every time I am playing a file or listening to a shoutcast radio station and open or close another program or open or close a url in internet explorer 7. I didn't notice this problem before I installed internet explorer 7. This happened with Winamp 5.3 pro, so I did a clean install. It happened again so I upgraded to 5.31 pro. It happened again so I did a clean install of version 5.31 pro, (I use shared settings for all users on the install options) still happens.
I have a vpr matrix 226R computer with a 2.26 ghz intel cpu with 1 gig of ram, an ati 9700 pro video card, a creative audigy sound card and am running windows xp home edition sp2 all latest updates installed, and direct x 9.0c. I also have norton internet security 2006 installed (I tried winamp with internet security and anti-virus disabled, but winamp still crashed). I am also using a linksys rt31p2 router on a cable internet connection. The windows error message is: AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: 5.3.1.979 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 05478355 |

Event viewer log for winamp 5.31 crash
Don't know if tech support is still monitoring this, but I would really like a reply, since I still can't use winamp. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here's some info from the event viewer log that might be relevant: Source: Application Error Category: None Event ID: 1000 Faulting application winamp.exe. version 5.3.1.979 faulting module unknown. version 0.0.0.0 fault address 0x05558350 Data: Bytes: 0000: 41 70 70 6c 69 63 61 74 Applicat 0008: 69 6f 6e 20 46 61 69 6c ion Fail 0010: 75 72 65 20 20 77 69 6e ure win 0018: 61 6d 70 2e 65 78 65 20 amp.exe 0020: 35 2e 33 2e 31 2e 39 37 5.3.1.97 0028: 39 20 69 6e 20 75 6e 6b 9 in unk 0030: 6e 6f 77 6e 20 30 2e 30 nown 0.0 0038: 2e 30 2e 30 20 61 74 20 .0.0 at 0040: 6f 66 66 73 65 74 20 30 offset 0 0048: 35 35 35 38 33 35 30 0d 5558350. 0050: 0a . Hi. Can you try removing ml_xpdxs.dll (Predixis MusicMagic plugin) and see if the problem still occurs (with Winamp closed, just move that file out of the Winamp\Plugins folder).
|
Thanks for the reply.
I tried removing ml_xpdxs.dll and it corrected part of my problem. I can now play mp3 files and listen to and change stations in shoutcast radio without winamp crashing. However winamp 5.31 still crashes while playing mp3 files or listening to shoutcast radio and opening any other program, including but not limited to internet explorer 7. Thanks for your continuing efforts. |
Strange. I'm not sure what else could be causing something like that to happen.
Could you try temporarily disabling ml_pmp.dll (Portable Media Player Support). Note that by doing that, it will prevent any of the individual pmp_*.dll modules from loading. I'm maybe thinking that there might be a conflict between pmp_ipod.dll and the itunes/ipod service (O23 - Service: iPodService - Apple Computer, Inc. - C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe). Other than that, I really aren't sure. Maybe try a clean install, and remember to uncheck Predixis and any other unrequired components/features in the installer options. |
Thanks, I removed ml_pmp.dll, and winamp doesn't crash any more.
Now winamp takes a long time to load. Are there any install options or plug in uninstall options that I might use to permantly disable this plugin so winamp loads properly? Thanks again. |
I should have followed your links before my last post. I will try a clean install again, this time without Predixis support and without ipod support.
Thanks again. |
The problem of Winamp crashing when opening other programs or a new url in internet explorer was corrected by uninstalling the plugin for Creative's Jukebox (Nullsoft Creative NJB Plug-in v0.5 [pmp_njb.dll]
I have a Creative Audigy Platinum sound card and use a Nomad Jukebox 3 portable player on my system. Creative has come out with new drivers in the past month that may resolve this apparent conflict. It will take me a few days to check this out (busy schedule). In the mean time I am quite content to have Winamp functionality without portable device support. Bye the way the Predixis Music Magic plug-in was causing the first half of this problem (Winamp crashing after about 3 seconds of play). Thanks for your help!!! |
Cool :cool::up:
So I was on the right tracks with one of the pmp plugins... I saw "iPodService" in your hjt log, but I somehow missed "NOMAD Detector", heh. |
