Windows updated, now Winamp scrolls, skips, and changes?

So, I ran all my Windows updates, installed everything like that for all of my common programs, ran disc cleanup and defrag, etc (was trying to make a video game run faster). I also removed almost everything from my startup using msconfig.

I opened Winamp, opened my usual playlist (5k+ songs) and clicked on. It started scrolling through them all, going down the list, skipping them (IE not playing them), and changing the song titles back to what they were when I first uploaded/downloaded them (many of them were often mispelled, lacking an artist name, just said a track number, etc).

What the hell is going on?

playlists are text files that point to files on your computer. IF you rename that file, then guess what, the links in the playlists are broke.

scrap your playlists, and rescan your library with "remove missing files" checkmarked.

I didn't rename the FILE, I changed the ID3v1 and v2 tags via file info.

That still has nothing to do with the fact that my Winamp won't PLAY, either.

If the files were renamed/moved, Winamp won't be able to find them and thus won't play them.
(Renaming the playlist itself shouldn't really matter though.)

If you right-click one of the files that won't play in the playlist editor > View file info, what do you see? Is the path in that dialog correct?

Running the latest version of Winamp? (i.e. 5.31)
Do you have any 3rd-party plugins installed?

Fixed it.

My roommate must have "safely removed" my external harddrive when trying to fix my wireless connection.
