ordinal not found
When starting winamp either from the desktop or auto-play from the web a notice pops-up with the title,
Winamp 5.31: winamp.exe - Ordinal Not Found X the ordinal 2251 could not be located in the DLL, PX.dll. I press ok and winamp will start fine. But it is kinda annoying that it just doesn't properly. When i installed the new version it did hang. I clicked to ignore the file to continue setup. I like using winamp, how can i correct this issue please. Thank you, Steve |
PX.dll is one of the Sonic Engine files required for CD Burning to work.
If that was the file which the installer hung on, then it probably meant that there was already a version of px.dll in your %system% dir, and it was in use and therefore couldn't be overwritten. Thanks Egg,

When starting winamp either from the desktop or auto-play from the web a notice pops-up with the title,
Winamp 5.32: winamp.exe - Ordinal Not Found The ordinal 2251 could not be located in the DLL, PX.dll. I had been upgrading WinAmp for many years, and had seen this error before. I had already replaced PX.dll based on other forum posts. The solution was to completely uninstall Winamp. I deleted the folder C:\Program Files\Winamp, then rebooted Windows. When I re-installed it, I chose the minimum possible options. Now I no longer get that error message. |
To disable the Sonic Engine, either uncheck it under the Audio Support section of the installer options (for clean installs), or delete/move primosdk.dll from the Winamp root dir.
If primosdk.dll isn't present, then Winamp will not load the Sonic Engine, and therefore won't look for px.dll (also note that the latest version of px.dll can be found via the above links) |
