Need help!

I have winamp 5.21 and I downloaded the ml_ipod 2.00, after I finish installing it, it keeps giving me a "parsing ipod databases......please wait" message. How can I get rid of this? My PC is Windows 98. My PC still recognizes my Ipod Nano and it still charges, but when I want to add songs and use Winamp it gives me that message.

Help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Please attach the two debuglogs, see FAQ.

I read the FAQ, but I stil don't understand how to attach the two debuglogs.

Simply click on the Reply button here in the forum, and then on the button "Attach file:" -> "Browse...". You can only attach one at a time, so pack the files into one zip file, or reply twice and attach them one at a time.

Ok, you have a very old version (backup?) of your iPod data on C:/iPod_Control. That causes the problem. Simply rename C:\iPod_Control to C:\iPod_Control_backup or any other name. Then it should work.

Okay, I did what you said, and the message stop appearing. But, when I plugged my iPod in to add music, the "parsing ipod databases......please wait" message came back. I'm really confused.

I see. There was a switch in the version of the iTunes database, in iTunes and in ml_ipod. Some time ago. Apparently you switched from a quite old ml_ipod version to the newest one, and that causes the problem. I wasn't aware that this could happen, sorry.
There is an easy workaround, to enable ml_ipod to read your database once and then write it back in the new format.

Add a line
readMhsd2=1
to the iPod inifile, see http://www.joerobot.com/mlipodwiki/i...idden_settings for information on how to do this. Then start Winamp. I hope it works now...?

Ok I added the line in and its still giving me the message. Are you supposed to put "readMhsd2=1" in a certain part in the iPod inifile? I used Notepad to edit the iPod inifile.

it must be in the top part, under [ml_ipod]

I'm experiencing this behavior too, but I thought it was normal, since the message doesn't show for a long time just one second or so.

Edit: abu, I tried your suggestion but the message keeps popping up everytime I plug the iPod in.

abu 4th December 2006 16:05

It's fine that the message pops up. It's just not fine that it doesn't go away, as is the case with Tara06

AtmaWeapon 4th December 2006 17:13

Oh alright, maybe I misunderstood the problem.

Tara06 4th December 2006 17:41

Ok I did that and the message still appears. And, Winamp doesn't recognize my iPod because I don't see the word "devices", usually where my iPod would appear under.

abu 4th December 2006 19:20

I think I have to see your iTunesDB. Could you please upload that (see FAQ).

Tara06 5th December 2006 22:02

Abu, I downloaded the new version of Winamp(5.32) and I didn't download ml_ipod 2.00 and everything is working fine.

Thanks for your help.

abu 6th December 2006 06:44

So you are using the native pmp_ipod, that comes with Winamp, right? Fine, if that is ok for you (it does not have all the features of ml_ipod), stick with that!
