5.32 Install Hangs on 'Registering...'
 

I can't get the 5.32 install to complete. I've tried it twice and can't get out of the install screen. There is some discussion in the forum about the install not being clean - I first used the link on the main sales page, and then used a link from the forum. Topic was like, "5.32 now available."

Is there an install program somewhere that has been tested? I'm using Win XP, svc pack 2.

It works fine for most of Winamp's millions of users.

Without more info, I'm not sure what's causing the problem, but if all the files have been installed then you should be able to bypass that screen and get Winamp to run by editing winamp.ini as follows:

[WinampReg]
NeedReg=0
IsFirstInst=0

Note that those two entries should already exist, but you'll probably need to change the values from 1 to 0

Also note that winamp.ini is in the root Winamp folder (eg. C:\Program Files\Winamp) if you chose 'shared settings for all users' in the installer options, or in the %appdata%\winamp folder (eg. C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Winamp) if you chose 'separate settings per user'.
