Changing playlist selection bar colour

hi, I have been using Winamp ever since I first got a PC back in 1999. The only problem I had was that I found the colour bar used to select tracks in the playlist was often too garish. I soon figured out how to manually change the colour with Winamp2 to something more subtle by editing a config file for that skin, but with Winamp5 I've never been able to figure it out. Could anyone tell me of a relatively simple way to change this colour in Winamp5? Also, if anyone could inform me how to change to the colour of the general playlist text and current playing track, that would be appreciated too.

Another minor thing - ID3v2 tags. What does it mean when the ID3v2 tag is not ticked but extra tag info appears in the ID3v2 section, only in grey rather than black? I've noticed this on several occassions but I'm unsure what it means.

Thanks in advance.

for the colours, if you're using a classic skin then it's the same method of editing pledit.txt as should have been the case when you were using 2.x. if you're using a modern skin (one of the freeform ones) then i can't offer much help with that since it would be defined somewhere in one of the skin's xml files. and i don't know about the id3v2 question, someone else who uses those tags i'm sure will be able to provide some information about.

I should have mentioned, I'm using the default Winamp5 modern skin, Monodark colour theme. I find that the selection bar is very similar to the colour of the current track and so I find it difficult to read the text, and would like the bar to be much darker grey.

I have tried looking through the folders in \Winamp\Skins\Winamp Modern\ but I really have no idea what file(s) I would have to edit, or even if I'm looking in the right place.

Thank you for the help anyway.

since you're using a modern skin, a different approach could be to create your own colourtheme using this since i believe you can import an existing theme, edit it and then save it as a new one. never having directly used it, all i know is when using a modern skin you can you can select the coloureditor window to view and then do things from there

cheers, I'll give that a go later.

It looks exactly like what I'm after, even easier than the old method too. :)

Just finished setting it up, got Winamp looking exactly how I wanted :) Thanks for the link for that colour changing plugin.

Should I make a new thread regarding the grey ID3 text? It will be probably be missed in here by someone who might know what it is.
