boost/loud every tracks

Hi
how can i make all my songs in my ipod song loud ,and the same with the same volume??

i know there is a option in ml_ipod volume boost and normalize...

i would like to listen for example a old cd of the cure loud at last like the others??

thanks

theres a register "volume" where u could set the normalize setting to a certain db level.

what fears me, is that i dont know wether the tracks are altered on my hdd or on the ipod only >)

Nothing is changed on the HD :)

yes i saw it
but what can i do to make loud only the weary, weak songs ?

as far as i understand (and know about normalizing) its not important which one is loud and which one is not.

u set the level: 120db (ouch ;P)
3 scenarios:
1. a track is 120db => nothing is changed
2. track is 90db => its louder afterwars
3. track is 150db => its less loud (damned rusty english)

i thinks it's different
every tracks will be lower to 120 db
no tracks will be play more loud

I think muab is right, every track will be equally loud after that, all 120db. Independent of the original "loudness"

From the MP3Gain helpfile:
"Track mode volume-corrects a mix of unrelated songs to a selected level. MP3Gain calculates the volume level for each song individually. It then corrects each song to make its volume level match the Target Volume.
For example, if you have 3 songs that have volume levels of 86, 91 and 89 dB and you use Track Gain to convert them to a Target Volume of 92 dB, they will all be at approximately 92 dB."

Read the MP3Gain help!

in winamp , i run the command replay gain , and try to listen them inside winamp
and they sound weak like before

It only changes the tracks on the iPod. So if you want to hear the difference in Winamp, you have to enable "Prefer iPod to media library for playback" in the general prefs.

On the iPod, the difference should be easy to hear. But I must be honest, I have never used that feature myself ;)

a question , if i scan replaygain inside winamp , and i have my mp3 tagged with replaygain, do they work with ml_ipod??
or should i have to normalize via ml_ipod tool agaiin?

abu 15th March 2007 07:52

You have to do it again. The replay gain values that Winamp writes to the files are ignored by the iPod firmware, so it is necessary to use MP3gain, which does it differently. (I'm not really sure how the Winamp mechanism works, but I think that is true)

I tried it, it sounds worse , with lot of clipping:down:

abu 18th March 2007 17:38

I think you have to select a reasonable value, like 92..96dB.
Definitely nothing above 100dB, this will certainly cause clipping.
